Thoughts & Capabilities

Software as a Service (SAAS) & Cloud

We believe all businesses small and large can benefit from the revolution of software provided as a service and consumed via the internet. Whether it be accounting, expenses or customer management, finding the right tools that suit your requirements is where we can help.

The internet and more recently the capability that the ‘cloud’ provides has finally enabled all businesses to benefit from low cost, functional and easy to use programs that provide exactly what they need, when they need it on a variety of devices.

Business Backbone

Backbone is our own project to deliver a SAAS application that will help Accounting practices and book keepers become more efficient in their service delivery when dealing with online accounting applications. You can find out more here www.businessbackbone.co.uk

Accounting Services

In conjunction with our clients we also provide assistance with your accounting needs. We offer a number of additional accountancy services including payroll, bookkeeping, management accounting, cash flow, business planning and tax planning /advice.

Who we have helped so far….

Interxion (www.interxion.com)

As a multi national data centre and colocation provider, for over two years we helped deliver multiple finance transformation projects, working with key stakeholders on programs including Purchase to Pay, Finance and Operational Sales and integration and Financial Reporting.

Prosport Physiotherapy (www.prosportphysiotherapy.co.uk)

For the last year we have helped Martin and his team with business and commercial planning to establish new practices.  In addition  Prosport use the latest cloud services to deliver exceptional customer service including automated and integrated accounting, billing and online payments, patient care and social media management.

Future Textiles

A family run textile manufacturer in need of some TLC. We were asked to mentor the business owner so that a new pricing structure and productivity improvements could be implemented. A review of internal systems & structures, reorganisation of basic processes and a revisit of customer contracts helped along the way.

I’m going to maintain […]

Small business and our backbone of cloud applications (The basics)

With the advent of our new website refresh, its always a good reminder to update your blog. Over the previous few months focus on cloud applications appears to have become main stream. Sunflowers, peace of mind…

As any parents will testify, decisions come thick and fast when you have children. Personal experience recently with both my sisters has highlighted how difficult it is to find the right nursery for your own children. We have two children, Abbie (11) and Tom (4). Our ten year association with sunflowers is coming to an […]

Big Data, Big Numbers & East Riding NHS Spending

I thought it was time I turned my attention to another area and having a look at what I could find. Spending data for the NHS in the East Riding caught my eye. Starting to download the data put in motion something I was unable to stop until I finished, a data file per month […]

Hull City Council Spending – View your Council Tax breakdown

So as I mentioned previously, a personal crusade possibly. More a passing interest into the data really. So on to V2 of my Dashboard and I wanted to make it say something rather than just providing a discovery tool. I’ve tweaked the dashboard so the front page provides some immediate feedback. In simple terms spending […]

Data Junkie – Got his fix last night from Hull City Council

Last night I attended the latest installment from Hull Digital (http://www.meetup.com/Hull-Digital-Hull-Open-Coffee/) who has their regular informal meetups at Fudge on Princes Avenue in Hull (http://www.fudgefood.com/), who accommodate the attendees brilliantly. The meetups are a group of likeminded souls when it comes to all things techy, it gives people chance to chat, drink and be entertained with […]

Google+ , are Invites the new addiction?

Under normal circumstances given any normal day, I would have joined the throng in feeling an urge to take part in the google furore that occurred with the pre-release of Google plus. Seeing the noise build up to a crescendo that ultimately meant google closed off access, displayed a number of things to me personally that I want […]

Various people offered advice, encouragement and uncertainty in equal measures thus ensuring that regardless of the number of people I spoke to, it was ultimately me that would have to make the major decision and jump.
